Actually it was my daughter's, I just borrowed it. She recently got a Nikon D50 for her birthday and she loves it so far.
Nikon, Canon - they're both terrific, just go for the one that feels right in your hand. If you have the money I'd recommend the Nikon D200 or the Canon 20D.
