Builders of Stonehenge Found
I'm surprised this passed me by as I usually scan the science news pretty thoroughly. Plus, I've seen Andrew Fitzpatrick in several documentaries talking about various structures in Wales and whatnot, but I didn't know he was in on a big story about Stonehenge.
Anyway, cool.
They sure know a lot about Stonehenge - enamel on the teeth tells them where the people lived. It's very interesting - a mass grave seems strange, but it does make sense that a family that lives together lies dead together. Not so much real estate taken up either.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Archaeologists are always making educated guesses to some degree, but some stuff is more convincing than others. I always remember Stonehenge being one of those unsolved mysteries growing up. I guess part of me would like it to stay totally mysterious, but finding out the truth can be interesting too, like all the stuff that's always turning up in Egypt.

Very interesting! It's hard to get close to Stonehenge these days as it's 'protected' with a fence and security. I did have the great experience, once when I was seventeen years old, of going into the circle with a couple of friends in the middle of the night. It's a pretty awesome place.
