I like Morrisey BUT sharing his own ego and misergy can sure bring someone down - I imagine he spoke to many teenagers who were already feeling a bit alone, like many do.

Agreed, that geezer is one piece of work! And his songs can bring you down, or maybe just be there for you when you are down.

Keep in mind he was just 20 when he wrote this and The Smiths were just starting out. And it may have even been written IN his teens, and updated to make a song, since he wrote so much in notebooks and diaries during those years before he found Johnny and formed the band.

So I'm sure the feeling were genuine, and yes, a bit of what many, many teens and young adults (and not so young ones) feel...

Thanks, and agree. The Smiths in the 80s made some really good music (much more popular in England than in America) that was sometimes poppy and upbeat, sometimes epic and morose (like this one).

And Morrissey wrote some pretty downer lyrics to go with the music (he wrote funny or 'poppy' songs as well but I don't usually post those, hehe). But then, in life, a lot of people are down and can find solace in the kind of music that expresses how they're feeling themselves. Misery loves company, that old saying...

I appreciate you always stopping by to look at my blog!

Now I have to go take a look and Hans' - I've been neglecting it for a week or two and I'm sure Coco must have made a guest appearance by now :)
