Not a clasic beauty, but she's her own person and couldn't care less what others think of her. She does her own thing, acts naturally and I guess that's what makes her attractive.
Strange to see those pics of her smiling though.
I've always been enamored of her, she's bright and very feisty (well, she IS a redhead) and played the rock bitch but playfully when younger, not a mean feminazi punk, but just a tease and flirt and yet spun good, mozzer-esque lyrics at times and always had sometime dour to say about everything, with a glint in her eye. And now she's mellowed, accepted aging and begun to act, and gotten tired of the vixen act I'm sure the studio keeps pushing her to stay with (hey, it worked before...), and that good-natured scottishness has come out. And she's always done charity work (out of her real beliefs, not for PR only) especially for animals, even when 'in character'. I love the heavy makeup, I love her eyes, her crooked but beautiful smile, her sexiness while not actually showing as much flesh as all these hoes in the mainstream of music these days, who wear practically nothing. Shirley could wear a Nasa spacesuit and make it sexy. Or put her up against some perfect-looking, perfectly symmetrical and artificial person from Malibu or some place, and I'll take Shirley every day of the week and twice on Sundays! Her self-confidence and intelligence is what does it as much as her looks or anything she wears. She's a tease, but one that guys fall for and enjoy the process. And I think she's probably very sweet (I've seen her on chat shows and she's funny and almost a touch shy)... Reminds me a bit of a young Debbie Harry in a way, but in a way not. I've followed her since she was in Angelfish and there's no one like her. I'll always like that, like you said, she just does her own thing and couldn't give a bleep what others think. The same general attitude is what makes Bjork very attractive to me as well, no matter how many normal "blokes" would have no idea what I see, since she doesn't have giant, fake tits. And if what's her name from Portishead didn't smoke (yuck), I'd put her in the same category. I love confident, smart, modern women who dress uniquely and have their own mind. Oh yeah, add Roisin to that list. =) And sweet, conservative, sarcastic arch-wit (if you're not paying attention) Harriet Wheeler. Women need backbone to catch my fancy.
