Gazelle

Along the muddy river bank
A simple drink of water
A chance for true communion
You look so convincingly kind

And then does the lamb turn meek
And die in your sarcophagic arms
Dire and bleak
Reek lady of a thousand charms

And sommersault madly
Like a dying gazelle
Still headed for the sun on the horizon
Till his breath runs out.
