The Middle Way.
Following the path as it leads toward
The darkness in the north
Weary strangers' faces show their sympathy
They've seen that hope before
And if you want to stay for a little bit
Rest your aching limbs for a little bit
Before you the night is beckoning
And you know you can't delay
You hear the night birds calling you
But you can't catch the words they say
Close your aching eyes, be on your way
Mist is swirling, creatures crawling
Hear the roar get louder in your ears
You know the folly was your own
But the force behind can't conquer all your fears
And if you want to stay for a little bit
Rest your aching limbs for a little bit
Before you the night is beckoning
And you know you can't delay
You hear the night birds calling you
But you can't catch the words they say
Close your aching eyes, be on your way
Throw your thoughts back many years
To the time when there was life with every morning
Perhaps a day will come when the light will be as clear as on that morning.

Not bad lyrics from the "guitarist" of the Floyd, either...
Dave's always been crippling underrated for everything he's done because he's SO quiet and modest.
IMO he blows Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and any clows from any 70s or 80s metal band away with his guitar. To talk about Gilmour is to move into Robert Johnson, Muddy Water, BB King territory. His guitar is a voice which "sings" the melodies - literally.
Add to that he's got one of the great voices (although it's gotten huskier with age, it's still brilliant), and though he's not Waters with the pen, when he puts his mind to it, like on his latest solo album, he can write damn good lyrics that are free from rock cliches about parties, girls, drugs, and such.
He's a perfectionist but (almost) always deferred to Waters. It worked fine when they were all still contributing in mostly equal measure, but when Roger essentially began to do everything (on The Wall, The Final Cut)... well, Dave had the nads to stand up and call BS.
And that's why HE owns the Pink Floyd brand today, and not Roger, though they both of course can play all their old music in their own shows and still get royalties. But Roger can't tour as Pink Floyd. Dave (if he wanted, but he doesn't), on the other hand, could.
