“NOW MY HEART IS FULL”
(morrissey)

There's gonna be some trouble
A whole house will need rebuilding
And everyone I love in the house
Will recline on an analyst's couch quite soon.

Your father cracks a joke
And in the usual way, empties the room.

Tell all of my friends (I don't have too many)
Just some rain-coated lovers' puny brothers.

Dallow, Spicer, Pinkie, Cubitt -
Rush to danger,
Wind up nowhere.
Patric Doonan - raised to wait...

I'm tired again
I've tried again
&

Now my heart is full.
Now my heart is full.
And I just can't explain,
So I won't even
Try to.

Dallow, Spicer, Pinkie, Cubitt.
Every jammy Stressford poet.
Loafing oafs in all-night chemists
Loafing oafs in all-night chemists
Underact - express depression
Ah, but Bunnie I loved you.

I was tired again
I tried again
&

Now my heart is full.
Now my heart is full.
And I just can't explain,
So I won't even
Try to.

As always, all the references (names) are real. Most are characters from a Graham Greene novel, an author who Moz is inordinately fond of. Patric Doonan was an actor of bit parts who committed suicide I believe. Haven't looked any of this up in over ten years probably. I just like the anthemic feel of the song and the idea that as you get older, your heart fills up until it can hold no more. Especially when you're a passionate person and keep your idols and personal experiences and everything else so tightly held and refuse to let them go to clear room for anything new. A sad thought, but a romantic one.

Glad you explained all that. I've always liked Morrisey's overall sound but rarely have a clue what he's on about. Thanks for the enlightenment! :)

I'm a bit of a nutter in that department, so I'm glad I could be helpful. At my age, I literally grew up with the Smiths (and Moz solo), went to endless concerts, and identify with the man to a frightening degree (though not WHOLLY, and don't adopt his superficialities out of some kind of shallow idolatry).

But that's why there's so much Smiths/Morrissey material on this site. I don't want to come across as a Moz fanboy, but as I once told someone who accused me of being pretentious, "It's not pretentious if you truly mean it."

We'll do a favorite bands/performers post in the near future and see what we all (6?) have in common. That will be interesting. Till then... arrivederci.

I thought I was the only one who had ever read a Graham Greene novel!

Apparently there are at least two people.
