WISH YOU WERE HERE

(Roger Waters)

So,
So you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell?
Blue skies from pain?
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell.

And did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk-on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish

How I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fishbowl
Year after year;
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

I can play this one badly too. Luckily for my neighbours, Roger W has a similar vocal range. The same cannot be said of Bob Plant, but then again, I don't like my neighbours much.

Lol. Roger's voice was never his strong suit, to be kind about it. Worked great for the tortured Pink character though, and he had Dave around to handle the rest of it.

Was never into Zeppelin much besides a handful of songs. Sacrilege I know.

Early stuff is best, later it got over complicated and silly at times. "Since I've Been Lovin' You" on Zep 3 is one of the most moving power blues tracks you'll ever hear. There are some pretty hippie songs on that album too. Get Mags to send it to you, she has the technology.

Cool, I will check out the earlier stuff you mentioned.
