Yeah, I've read her works. She was a friend of Sylvia Plath's and had the same "gifts of the self-dramatizing and self-destructive kind" as a critic rightly put it.She was also obsessed with death, like Plath.I like confessional poetry and write stuff in the same genre. But after a point, I like to retreat to humor to keep my sanity. Obsession with the macabre is scary. I don't want to end up in a closed car, in a garage with the ignition turned on and carbon monoxide taking me to the next world, the way Anne sexton kicked the bucket.I stick to choosing life no matter what...

Having said that, I must say, wow! what a looker! Anne Sexton was supposed to be incredibly beautiful and the photographer has done a good job of capturing her in one of her relatively rare happy moods...

Yes, she was good looking as was Sylvia, in different ways. I think Sylvia was the better poet by far, but that's not a slight on Anne - it's like saying someone's a wonderful writer but not in Shakespeare's league. My opinion, anyway. But I also like some of the other confessional poets like Snodgrass and Lowell, just not as much. I seem to identify with women all throughout my life. Hmm....
